About Editor-in-Chief

Avery is an award winning media and content strategy expert with a cross-border journalism background in both China and the United States. She has received major journalism recognitions in both countries, including the First-Class Journalism Award of the Chinese CPPCC and top U.S. Congressional journalism award.

Her career spans a full-spectrum media journey in China, where she worked across nearly every core newsroom function, including state media television hosting, news anchoring, public affairs reporting, entertainment editing, newspaper advertising and PR, and content directorship.

After moving to the United States, she trained under three Emmy Award–winning mentors in documentary filmmaking and video production, and earned a Master’s degree in Communication specializing in digital media storytelling.

She worked in leading mainstream media organizations in the United States, focusing on social media strategy, editorial innovation, and audience growth. She also contributed advisory insights for digital media communication strategies related to public-facing institutions, including government communication initiatives.

Across platforms including YouTube, Twitter (X), and Instagram, she has built and managed media properties with a combined audience exceeding 10 million followers.

Her work has been exhibited at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago and international film festivals. She has also served as a professional jury member for documentary productions which has been broadcast on CCTV and multiple provincial TV networks and screened at institutions such as Harvard University and the University of Chicago.

She is a member of the Chicago Tribune Investigative Reporters & Editors Fellowship program and the Online News Association.

Avery specializes in transforming complex professional services into clear, searchable Mandarin narratives that build trust and drive measurable engagement. Her expertise lies not only in content production, but in building communication systems that convert media visibility into sustained recognition, consultations, and client acquisition.

She has worked with government agencies, healthcare systems, educational institutions, international brands, and cross-border businesses to develop high-trust Mandarin communication ecosystems.
